Methodology v1
How we measure AI visibility
AI visibility metrics are not standardized, so we explain exactly what our score measures, and what it doesn't.

What to fix
1. We build your business profile
We read your website (homepage and a few key pages) and extract your name, other names customers use, what you offer, where you are and who you serve. You confirm or correct this profile before anything runs.
2. We write the questions your customers ask
We generate realistic buyer questions for your type of business and city, such as “best boutique hotel in Yerevan for a cultural experience”. The questions never contain your name: they are the questions people ask before they know you. Every question includes your city, and each one gets an importance weight based on how common and decision-close it is.
3. We ask AI, like a customer would
Each question is sent exactly as written, with web search enabled, without any hint about your business. We currently test Claude with web search and OpenAI's GPT with web search, and are adding more platforms. We use the platforms' official APIs, so answers can differ from what the consumer apps show.
4. We read every answer
- Mention: is your business named? We match your name, other names and website, then double-check unclear cases. Your own branches and sub-brands count as you.
- Position: where you appear when the answer is a list.
- Citations: which websites the answer cites, and whether yours is one of them.
- Competitors: other businesses of the same kind recommended in the answer. A business only counts if its name really appears in the answer.
- Answers that recommend no business at all are shown in your report but left out of the score, because they say nothing about who AI recommends.
5. The score
40%Mention rate
Share of answers that name your business.
25%Citation rate
Share of answers that cite your own website as a source.
20%Position
How high you appear when the answer is a list: #1 = 100 points, #2 = 85, #3 = 70, #4–5 = 50, lower = 30, mentioned without a list = 50.
15%Trusted sources
Share of answers citing at least one source about you: your site, or a third-party page about your business.
Each answer is weighted by its question's importance. AI share of voice is your share of all business recommendations in the answers. The score bands:
Confidence depends on how many answers were scored: fewer than 20 is low, 20–59 medium, 60 or more high.
6. Your website check
We also check basic technical signals: HTTPS, title and description, structured data, contact details, whether AI crawlers are blocked in robots.txt, and your sitemap. These are shown separately and don't change the score. Passing them doesn't guarantee AI visibility.
Limitations
- AI answers change between runs and over time. A single check is a snapshot.
- Results depend on the questions and platforms tested.
- We test official APIs; consumer apps (ChatGPT app, Google) can answer differently.
- Automatic detection can make mistakes. Every report shows the answers so you can verify.
- This score is our own measurement, not an industry standard, and not a prediction of traffic.
When the method changes, we publish a new version. Every report records the version it used.
